After the recent closure of the Glastonbury track a number of greyhounds were "disposed of" by trainers and SWAG supporters have been working with greyhound rescue groups in the area to care for and rehome these dogs.

Funds are urgently needed to help these greyhounds and to assist the SWAG campaign in general. Please help with a donation, if you possibly can.

Cheques/POs should be made payable to S.W.A.G. and sent to South West Action for Greyhounds, Box 53, 82 Colston St, Bristol, BS1 5BB. If you would prefer to donate by standing order or cash transfer, please contact SWAG

Please also get in touch with SWAG if you can offer a loving home to any of the rescued Glastonbury dogs.

"Lucy" in urgent need of a home >> location EIRE

"I am looking for an adoptive or foster home for Lucy the lurcher. Shes about a year old, very bouncy and affectionate , but has snapped a few times when she feels scared. So she is not suitable for home with young children. She needs a home with an experienced dog owner. But she improving a lot and learns fast. She was kept in a shed and beaten, so is scared of confined spaces. She is living in a foster home in Ireland but has no prospects of a home there. Its hard to home even easy to home dogs there, so Lucy has no real prospects In Eire. I can arrange transport to bring her over. She has been spayed."

Calutz >> location Romania

....................

If you can offer Calutz or any of the other dogs a loving home please contact Dana directly email: rolda@care2.com

This mix-greyhound is Calutz ( his name means little Horse in romanian) he is a beauty and is very attached to humans.

Calutz is a beautiful boy, almost two years old. He was caught by the dogcatchers in Galatzi's streets and dumped at the first local pound.Because of lack of veterinary assistance and lack of nutritious food, he now needs lots of supplements (especially Ca) in his special diet.Calutz suffered from a bones illness and his back legs are deformed a little, but this doesn't cause him any pain.

Calutz is sociable and gets on well with the others dogs, sometimes possessive. He is sterilised, deparasited and vaccinated. He is ready for a new chance to live a better and safer future.

He is currently living at the city dog pound, for pictures of the 'concentration camps' called dog pounds visit www.rolda.home.ro ROLDA is allowed to help dogs at the first pound and authorities let me update some kennels, build others, take ill dogs from first pound to our vet.

Almost all dogs from the first pound are ready to be adopted, they are healthy, sterilized, vaccinated, deparasited

In order to be adopted in UK,Calutz will have to stay in quarantine in a UK shelter for six months (from my knowledge)-Romania isn't in EU,so it's hard to send for adoption dogs from RO in UK....but if there is one small chance for Calutz to be adopted in the UK or USA,I'll be thrilled to see him going for a new, better life!!!!

Love
Dana
