The Day of Action against Boots, called for Saturday, June 25th, has now been cancelled. If you are one of the many people who expressed interest in demonstrating outside your local Boots, please consider doing the same outside your local branch of William Hill the following Saturday (July 2nd), as part of our Greyhound Derby Day of Action. More info on this coming soon.

BOOTS said...

"Enjoy the fun of greyhound racing. With an estimated £2.25 billion wagered on and off course and £11 million in prize money, greyhound racing is an absolute 'must have' experience. At most tracks there's a race taking place every 15 minutes, which means non-stop action. Trying to pick the winner just adds fun to the evening. You can choose which track you want to go to: London, Manchester, Oxford, Portsmouth, Birmingham; Sunderland, Tyne & Wear; Byker, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne."

UNTIL...

GA launched our national campaign to persuade them that greyhound racing is cruel and barabaric and results in the death of 1000's of dogs every year ... BOOTS almost immediately caved in and have now ceased promoting greyhound racing. This is a particularly pleasing result because BOOTS have a history of involvement in exploiting animals ... they even had their own vivisection laboratories until they were forced to sell them due to pressure from campaigners and following drug scandals like Manoplax (a heart drug that was tested on 1000's of animals before being trialed on humans ... the trials resulted in human deaths and the drug was withdrawn ... just another example of the uselessness and of vivisection experiments.

NOW BOOTS say...

Thank you again for contacting us. We're grateful to you for letting us know your opinion. Our customers' views play an important part in helping us to decide what products to sell on boots.com.
We've reviewed sales of our Greyhound Experience product and looked at all the feedback we've received from our customers. The product is not a key line for us and sales suggest our customers are not hugely interested in it. After taking all this into account, we've decided to stop selling this product. We hope this closes the matter for you and that you'll want to continue shopping at Boots.

Kind regards,

David Marmion

THEY SAY:

WE SAY:

Greyhound racing is not fun but a cruel form of "entertainment" - thousands of dogs are disposed of every year because they don't make the racing grade, get injured at the track or are too old to race. What Boots calls "non-stop action" really means more dogs are continually bred for the nearly 70,000 races taking place every year in the UK.

Please contact them to express your objections and inform them that you would be joining the boycott and possible demonstrations outside the Boots stores.
