EL GALGO SENIOR - HELP CLOSE THIS HELLHOLE

A coalition of groups and individuals is trying to get this so called "rescue centre" closed down. Read on to find out more and how you can help.

"Some of you know, many do not, that there is a terrible situation going on at the El Galgo Senior kennel in Spain. For the past two weeks, several individuals and organizations have been lobbying the city of El Campello to close this kennel forever. There are presently as many as 230 dogs residing there.

Eyewitnesses from around the world, who have visited at this place to volunteer and work, have come away sickened and have now come together to ask that a campaign be waged to close this dog camp down.

Yesterday we prepared a draft letter to be used to help convince the officials that need to act, and it is included here. If you ever thought about what to do to help Spanish dogs, I would ask that you consider this appeal.

The letter needs to be copied and pasted into a new e-mail and directed to pro-galgo@telefonica.net. It needs to be signed and show an address and country.

We are prepared to accept all the dogs remaining at El Galgo Senior, and plans have been put into place to take them immediately. Some misguided people are determined to help keep the place operating. What this will mean is that they will probably get it cleaned up and barely presentable, but we know that within a month when everybody leaves, it will revert back to its current deplorable state. As the owner of two galgos and the foster Mom of two others, I can tell you that every day I pull them close and hold them and thank God they never passed through this place. Thank you."

The Letter

INTERNATIONAL GALGO/GREYHOUND ORGANIZATIONS APPEAL FOR THE IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF EL GALGO SENIOR

To who it may concern:

We are asking you, in your official capacity, to favorably consider issuing the necessary order to close down the dog shelter known as El Galgo Senior in El Campello (Alicante), owned and operated by Patricia Osborn. We are appalled at the recent exposure of the suffering and death, which has been confirmed by eyewitnesses and pictures taken at this facility. This kennel is well known around the world for the inhuman treatment and lack of care practiced by Patricia Osborn.

It is shameful for a shelter where dogs should find sanctuary until they can be properly adopted, to in truth be the place where they die unnecessarily. Why bring them there? Death does not come kindly for the dogs unfortunate enough to find themselves in this place. Bloody fights gouge and tear them up, and dogs hungry enough to feed upon each other, present a horrific picture. Many bleeding to death crawl off to die alone and in pain. Widespread breeding among unsterilized animals result in litters born into a scene of brutality, while the helpless females watch, unable to save their puppies while in the throes of giving birth. Words cannot properly describe the uncivilized atmosphere. The submissive are at the mercy of the strong, fear is a constant companion, and survival of the fittest is the rule of the land. We collectively urge you to take this into consideration as you decide the right thing to do.

The use of the Internet has spread this issue around the world to hundreds of individuals who spend their lives helping dogs We all want to help the dogs that are in this awful place, and stand ready to take them all in. We ask that you rule in their favor. Please help us help them and remove this stain from your lovely city.
