Australia is the main player in the export of greyhounds to Asia.
In
addition to the welfare problems it already has with it's own
greyhound racing industry, the Australian industry is exporting
greyhounds to Asia. The dogs are going to countries such as Vietnam,
Macau, China and more recently Korea with the next targets being
Cambodia & the Philippines. The aim is to promote and develop
the greyhound racing industry in these countries.
Inevitably this will lead to misery and death for many greyhounds
as there is no opportunity or hope of rehoming the dogs that have
become "surplus to requirements" in Asia. These "surplus"
greyhounds are often therefore being slaughtered in the barbaric
dog meat industry.
