Please read on for more background and action you can take about greyhounds in Shanghai

Greyhound racing is responsible for the suffering and the deaths of countless numbers of greyhounds around the world. There is no hope or opportunity of rehoming the greyhounds that are surplus to requirements in Asia. They are ending their days being butchered in the barbaric dog meat industry. Racing is already underway in Vietnam, Macau, Korea and more recently China. Shipments of greyhounds from Australia have already arrived in Shanghai Wild Animal park.

Greyhound Action International and the American European Greyhound Alliance and the ISPCA (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) are all working hard to try to stop the expansion of greyhound racing to Asia.

The World Greyhound Racing Federation's cranked up publicity machine is working overtime claiming that in such countries the retired greyhounds will be rehomed properly. There is a rehoming problem in Western countries with sanctuaries heaving with abandoned greyhounds. Furthermore as a direct result of racing, puppies that do not meet racing requirements are routinely killed. Immense cruelty and death are also inflicted on ex racing dogs as they are no longer useful to the industry.

Imagine the scale of the problem in Asia!

SHANGHAI WILDLIFE PARK

Shanghai Wild Animal Park Development Ltd is a joint venture between Shanghai City Government and the National Forest Department. The existing animals that live in the park are already suffering cruelty and abuse, what hope have the greyhounds got unless we take immediate action to help them?

Shipments of greyhounds from Australia have already arrived in Shanghai Wild Animal park.

What happens to the greyhounds that are surplus to requirements in China?

Shanghai Wild Animal Park boasts about the live feeding of animals at the park.

What is the fate of greyhounds in such a place?

The park admit to the killing of greyhounds. Again as in other parts of china the greyhounds are repaid for their years of loyalty by being tortured and murdered as they end up in the food chain being eaten.

Please send express your outrage and protest to the following insist they stop the torture and killing of greyhounds and ban this so called "sport "
