Cllr Kiron Reid kiron.reid@liverpool.gov.uk

Dear Mrs. Edwards,

Thank you for your email highlighting animal welfare and other concerns about this application. The land is currently derelict and much in need of investment. North Liverpool is much in need of investment and job creation which this application could bring. Nevertheless I do agree that the applicants should (i) answer animal welfare concerns; (ii) show that their business would be financially viable and the protests and the problems you mention could have an adverse affect on that.

These emails from yourself and fellow campaigners are the first time that I have heard about specific animanl abuse concerning greyhounds so thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Kiron Reid,

Liberal Democrat councillor, Anfield, Liverpool City Council.

Cllr Karen Afford karen.afford@liverpool.gov.uk

I can only really tell you what I have told the others who have contacted me.

I am not on the planning committee, so therefore not totally sure of the rules, but I doubt that the treatment of dogs is a legal planning reason for refusal.

If this can be proved it must be dealt with elsewhere. I am totally against greyhound and horse racing but the law does not allow for that and other reasons will be needed I am sure. The possibility of rowdieness MAY be a reason - again can it be proved? Also the conservation area may be a way round it.

I am sorry this is not the answer you want, but if it is rejected on anything other than legal grounds, they will appeal, they will win, the council will have a hefty bill and it will still go ahead.

Could I also ask that if this is part of a chain of emails to be sent that you forward this reply to future senders. The ones I have already received have large chunks almost word for word and while I am always happy to answer queries, I am not part of the process in this case.

Regards, Karen Afford

A Vegetarian Councillor :-)

Cllr Jan Clein Jan.Clein@liverpool.gov.uk

Dear Ms Furness,

You do not need to send the same email to me several times. I do not believe in killing any animals - which is why I'm a vegetarian!! For the record, I do not believe in breeding dogs either.

I would take people like you more seriously if you confirmed that you were a vegetarian also or are you only interested in the murder of dogs? Who, I must remind you usually eat other animals. My pet is vegetarian.

Regards

Councillor Jan Clein

Assistant Executive Member for Education & Lifelong Learning
