You bet.....They die

campaigns focussed on betting shops

A cheeky tip from one of our supporters

We recently received the following message from one of our supporters. No dishonesty is involved, as it really is "all a fix". Better to stick to the big-name bookmakers (unless you've got a few pals with you who can handle themselves) as some of the characters who run the independent ones could get violent.

"I found a great hobby recently! Its commonly known as taking your greyhound into a bookies and telling various punters its all a fix! The idea is to take said grey into bookies and look at Irish lottery while sidling up to anyone watching the dogs and whisper its all a fix. Very entertaining watching at least 3 punters walk out before the management twig to what you are doing. Be warned tho.... a bit of an arsey attitude is required when the management suss you out!"

Saturday, June 28th, 2003 Greyhound Derby Day of Action

The day of the William Hill Greyhound Derby Final is the day that most bets are placed on the dogs. A percentage of the money wagered will go to support greyhound racing.

Greyhound Action supporters will be picketting betting shops (especially William Hill) in order to educate punters about the death and suffering of dogs at the hands of the greyhound racing industry and to persuade them (if they must gamble) to bet instead on sports (such as football and cricket) which do not involve animals.

Please let us know if you'd like to hold a betting shop picket in your town. We will be producing a special leaflet to be given to punters. To put in advance orders for these and for "You Bet..........They Die" posters (all free of charge - but donations gratefully received), contact Greyhound Action.
